The Youth, Adolescent, Reflection and Action Centre (YARAC), in collaboration with ActionAid Nigeria (AAN) and consortium partners, has reached another important milestone in the implementation of the START Fund 1088 JOS Emergency Response Project for conflict-affected communities in Plateau State.
As part of the ongoing 45-day emergency response, beneficiary validation, account verification, and token distribution have been successfully completed in Riyom Local Government Area, ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches households most affected by recent conflict.
The verification exercise was conducted to confirm eligible beneficiaries and promote transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the delivery of humanitarian support.
Following the exercise:
- 797 households were verified to receive Unconditional Cash Transfers (UCTs) to help meet their most urgent household needs.
- 260 of the most vulnerable households were selected to receive Non-Food Item (NFI) Kits containing essential household supplies.
- 200 vulnerable women and girls were identified to receive Dignity Kits, providing critical hygiene and personal care items that promote health, dignity, and protection.
In preparation for the distribution scheduled for 25 June 2026, enumerators and distribution teams completed the sorting, kitting, and packaging of all relief materials to ensure a smooth and efficient distribution process.
Non-Food Item (NFI) Kits
Each NFI kit contains essential household items designed to support families affected by displacement and conflict, including:
- Solar rechargeable lamps
- Blankets
- Mosquito nets
- Cooking pots
- Water storage jerry cans
- Sleeping mats
- Household hygiene supplies
Dignity Kits
The dignity kits have been carefully assembled to meet the specific hygiene and protection needs of women and girls and include:
- Reusable sanitary pads
- Women’s underwear
- Bathing and laundry soap
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Cups and plates
- Wrappers
By combining cash assistance with essential household and dignity items, the emergency response enables families to address their immediate priorities while restoring dignity and supporting their recovery.
The START Fund 1088 JOS Emergency Response Project continues to provide life-saving assistance to conflict-affected households across Riyom, Barkin Ladi, and Bassa Local Government Areas, strengthening community resilience and ensuring that vulnerable populations receive timely humanitarian support.
This intervention is supported by the START Network and implemented by Christian Aid, ActionAid Nigeria, JDPC Jos, WOCCI Nigeria, and YARAC in partnership with affected communities across Plateau State.
