What happens when civil society organizations stop working in silos and start learning from each other? That was the question at the heart of a recent Peer Learning and Adaptation Engagement organized by YARAC with partners implementing the SPRING Programme across Plateau State – and the results were remarkable.
The engagement brought together a diverse group of civil society organizations, both those implementing the SPRING Programme and non-SPRING partners working in similar thematic areas. The goal was simple but powerful: strengthen collaboration, encourage shared reflection, and amplify coordinated impact across communities.
Who Was in the Room
The event was graced by the presence of the Regional Grant Officer for North Central, Mr. Tony Yusuf, representing the SPRING Regional Office. Participating organizations and government agencies included Afripeace, CRADI, CRUDAN, CEPAN, Sahel Consulting, WOPPI, JDPC, PSPBA, PPPN, YARAC, and YIAVHA – a powerful coalition of actors united by a commitment to community transformation.
What Was Gained
Through open dialogue, experience-sharing, and practical reflection, partners deepened their understanding of what works, what needs adjustment, and how to strengthen outcomes for communities. Key gains from the engagement included:
Shared learning from real implementation experiences across different community contexts
Innovation and adaptive programming – rethinking approaches in response to on-the-ground realities
Strengthened coordination and trust among partner organizations
Enhanced accountability and collective commitment to impact across Plateau State
Why This Matters
In development work, it is easy to become consumed by individual project deliverables and lose sight of the bigger picture. Events like this Peer Learning Engagement remind us that sustainable impact is a team effort. When organizations learn from each other – honestly and openly – the whole ecosystem of change becomes stronger.
