ABOUT YARAC

Our Story

Youth, Adolescent, Reflection and Action Centre (YARAC) was established in 1999 following the successful completion of a three-year project titled “HAD I KNOWN” (Helping Adolescents Off the Road), supported by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.

The project revealed deep gaps in reproductive knowledge, civic awareness, and leadership preparation among adolescents. To sustain the awareness, networks, and impact created, YARAC was founded as a permanent platform for youth engagement.

Since Nigeria’s return to democratic governance in 1999, YARAC has remained committed to nurturing a generation of young people capable of participating meaningfully in civic, social, and political life.

Our Vision

A future generation of young women and men who are analytic, reflective, and responsive – whose ultimate goal is service to humanity.

Our Mission

To empower young adults and adolescents to look before they leap through information sharing, training, and interactive activities so that they are informed about their reproductive and civic rights and responsibilities, and are able to make responsive decisions regarding their future.
